Weekly Briefing, January 21, 2021

Since our Spring testing began on Jan. 11 through Jan. 20, 65 students and 16 employees have tested positive. This is a total of 81 positives out of 12,464 tests, for a percent positivity rate of 0.6%.

We continue to address issues incorporating new testing data into this dashboard. Test results for employees and students are not affected. Starting next week, this dashboard will be updated to accommodate differences in the spring testing program and will share daily data again.

The Spring 2021 testing program and Safer Badgers app have launched. University Health Services continues to vaccinate eligible Phase 1a employees and students against COVID-19. About 1,800 faculty and staff over the age of 65 have been notified of their eligibility for the next phase of vaccination. Eligible employees and students should respond to email messages to schedule an appointment for vaccination.

A state of emergency and public health emergency remain in effect in the state of Wisconsin, extending the face covering requirement in order to address hospital bed and staff shortages. A local order from Public Health Madison & Dane County remains in effect and includes a ban on indoor off-campus gatherings of more than 10 people. UW–Madison remains subject to state orders.

Hospitalizations: No UW–Madison students or employees have reported current hospitalizations due to COVID-19. PHMDC tracks hospitalizations on its dashboard.
