Today’s test results include testing done during the three days of move-in for residence hall students that began Tuesday, August 25. The positive test rate for students during move-in is 1.1%, and the seven-day average positive test rate for students is 1.2%.
All residence hall students are being tested during move-in. This testing strategy will identify students who arrived on campus with an infection, including those who do not display any symptoms. Students from residence halls who test positive are placed in campus isolation or return home for their isolation period to limit additional spread of the virus within residence halls.
We expect to administer about 8,000 tests during move-in week; thereafter, we expect to perform about 6,000 tests per week – about 15 to 20 percent of the total population expected on campus this semester.
As of August 29, 3 students are in on-campus quarantine and 2 are in on-campus isolation. The majority of residence hall students have chosen to return home for their quarantine or isolation period. Read more about quarantine, isolation and testing follow-up procedures.
